Best Hotels in Chile

Nayara Alto Atacama

£££

Atacama Desert

Nayara Alto Atacama

Chile’s luxury resorts know no bounds, and Nayara Alto Atacama, with its six semi-private pools, is no exception. Resting within the Catarpe Canyon, just a few kilometres outside San Pedro de Atacama, you can pick from several boarding options. But if you ask me, the hotel’s all-inclusive packages (which cover accommodation, tours, food and drinks) are the best.

As for the decor, think pared-back desert chic with muted tones of ochre, stone, and terracotta. While there are three room categories, I went with the Catarpe room, which offers a mix of space, comfort and privacy you’ll adore.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s a pricey affair. But its extensive selection of spa treatments, fine dining at Ckelar, and some of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in make it all worth it.

The best part has to be the resort observatory where they do guided stargazing tours every night, where colourful nebulae and old galaxies will transport your stay to a whole new world.

Explora en Torres del Paine

£££

Torres del Paine

Explora en Torres del Paine

If you’re searching for a Patagonian paradise, Explora en Torres del Paine is a contemporary resort that lets the landscape do all the talking.

Each room has a small but intimate setting, with windows serving as portals into the Andean mountain range and Lago Pehoe.

It’s yet another lodging with several booking options, but the all-inclusive package is the way to go. That option includes all transportation, up to 40 thrilling activities and tours, relaxing spa treatments, and decadent meals.

You won’t want to leave after resting in the outdoor hot tub overlooking the striking Lago Pehoe.

PS: This is an adults-only resort, so take note.

Tierra Patagonia

£££

Torres del Paine

Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa

For another one of those 5-star hotels in Chile’s Patagonian region that holds nothing back, book a stay at Tierra Patagonia

This is a hotel where an on-site restaurant and crystal-clear indoor pool overlook the breathtaking Lago Sarmiento.

The minimalist palette of off-whites and light timber allows the large windows to showcase the mesmerising natural landscape.

You can gaze into the starry night sky while soothing your muscles in the sauna after a long day of exploring.

Alternatively, simply relax and read a book in the amphitheatre-like room with hanging chairs. Your options are endless at this luxury hotel in Chile.

Vik Chile

£££

San Vicente de Taguatagua

Vik Chile

For a mountain stay just an hour and a half drive from Maipo Valley, in near total seclusion, look no further than Vik Chile. With a roof mimicking the surrounding mountain range and a flower-filled courtyard to welcome you, it’s a hotel with a museum-like feel.

There’s an endless array of things to admire and enjoy here. You can rest to your heart’s content in your plush bed with Egyptian cotton linen. Or how about admiring Vik Chile’s very own vineyard from the contemporary viewing deck?

It all sounds too good to be true, right? Well, I haven’t even got to the outdoor infinity pool, stunning Milla Milla Restaurant, or spa. There’s a reason it constantly makes the best boutique hotel around the world lists.

Tierra Chiloe

£££

San José

Tierra Chiloe

One of the most extraordinary things to do in Chile includes a road trip along Parque Nacional Chiloé’s rugged coastline. And one place you must stay during this unforgettable adventure is Tierra Chiloe.

It’s an all-inclusive resort that embraces modern chic to its core, with warm timber finishings and ambient lighting throughout. San José beach is a measly 328 feet away, while stunning hiking spots like Mirado Quel Quel are right around the corner.

It’ll come as no surprise that this adult-only resort has a restaurant that wouldn’t look out of place in the streets of LA. Plus, the spa facilities and sauna will have you loving life just a tad more.

andBeyond Vira Vira

£££

Pucón

How does staying in the lush foothills near Reserva Nacional Villarrica sound? If so, you’ll adore the rooms at andBeyond Vira Vira, which overlooks the tranquil Rio Pucon O Minetue.

Interiors-wise, honey-coloured timber lights each room in an incandescent glow, while the soft Pearl-white bedding creates a cloud of comfort.

To make things even better, it’s another all-inclusive resort. That means you can enjoy all the meals with an artistic touch, hiking and skiing tours, and horse-riding opportunities at no additional cost.

The lodging is also only 6.2 miles (10 km) from the city centre, so spending some time in Pucón is also on the cards.

The Singular Santiago

££

Santiago

The Singular Santiago

Of all the luxury hotels in Chile, Singular Santiago is easily the best that doesn’t break the bank.

When you’re not exploring the town, you’ll love the uber-comfortable bedrooms with ambient lighting to help you rest. Their spa treatments are to die for — I loved mine — and the rooftop bar and restaurant serve some delectable meals.

Although they close the terrace in winter — unfortunately, I was there in winter — it’s a simply stunning spot for sundowners come summertime.

Hotel Cumbres Lastarria

££

Santiago

Hotel Cumbres Lastarria

There’s some stiff competition in Santiago for the best stay in town, and Hotel Cumbres Lastarria is another outstanding option. Its classic exterior pairs beautifully with its chic interior, where sizable rooms offer plenty of comforts.

Although the rooms have a spacious bathroom, study area, and bedroom, they’re missing a day chair for relaxing, but I’ll let it slide. The breakfasts on offer are tasty but the same each day, but the staff are super-friendly and always ready to help.

The hotel’s best features include the rooftop terrace with an infinity pool (perfect for summer tanning) and the on-site wine cellar.

Hotel Desertica

££

Atacama Desert

Hotel Desertica

If you want to explore the Atacama Desert whilst using a chic boutique property as your base, book a stay at Hotel Desertica. This hotel takes rustic elements and turns them into atmospheric elegance. I also stayed here during my most recent Atacama trip and it was perfect.

The clay huts might look unassuming from the outside, but enter the room, and the intricate details of wooden cladding and plush carpets ooze comfort and style.

Outside, you can enjoy a gentle stroll along the meandering pathways or dig into some traditional Chilean cuisine at the on-site restaurant.

Sheraton Miramar Hotel

££

Viña del Mar

Who doesn’t love the crisp ocean breeze and the refreshing saltwater smell in the morning? Okay, not everyone does, but if you do, the Sheraton Miramar Hotel in Viña del Mar is the place for you.

The indoor pool with towering white columns and unforgettable Pacific Ocean views will be your first sign of grandeur. It’s only once you wander up the spiralling staircase to Travesia Restaurant and the spacious rooms, that you truly get a gauge of the hotel’s magnificent scale.

It even has one of the best spa facilities in the country and a straight-up gorgeous coastal terrace.

Let’s just say that whether you’re having a luxurious bath or a margarita (or four) at the bar, you’re bound to feel lavish.

Hotel Cubres San Pedro de Atacama

££

San Pedro de Atacama

Hotel Cumbres San Pedro de Atacama

Another desert oasis awaits at Hotel Cumbres. This lodging perfectly replicates its natural surroundings as the ochre feature walls and parquet flooring blend together seamlessly.

Hotel Cubres serves delightful meals at the on-site restaurant and is happy to organise tours of nearby attractions like the El Tatio Geysers. However, its true calling card is the soothing spa treatments using products from Atacama soil and the Dead Sea.

You’ll also fall in love with their three swimming pools. And if you want to shower beneath the stars, you can always enjoy your private outdoor shower.

Hotel Lago Grey

££

Torres del Paine

Hotel Lago Grey

Affordable luxury is a thing in the Patagonian countryside, and you won’t find a better example than at Hotel Lago Grey. This hotel has the full package, from the dappled natural lighting in the contemporary on-site restaurant to the unwavering mountain views at the chic bar.

They even offer free tours of the Grey Glacier. Although it’s missing a pool, that’s a small price to pay for the soft and airy bedrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows.

PS: The garden has stunning boardwalks offering the perfect photo opportunities of Cerro Paine Grande.

Hotel Boutique BC Wine Casablanca

££

Casablanca Valley

Hotel Boutique BC Wine Casablanca

Casablanca Valley provides one of the best wine-tasting opportunities in Chile, so it only makes sense to stay nearby at the stunning Hotel Boutique BC. Although dinners aren’t on the menu (unless requested), you can enjoy a delicious medley of flavours for breakfast.

While each room is spacious and has a private patio, the hotel’s real showstopper is the two red pools. You heard that right. The red-painted pools will instantly catch your eye — and the indoor pool is also heated.

With just ten rooms available, it’s a quiet lodging calling out your name.

Hotel Luciano K

£

Santiago

Hotel Luciano K

Santiago’s Lastarria district may be hip and happening, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find some affordable stays. And without a doubt, Hotel Luciano K is a chic lodging that won’t leave your purse looking sad.

From a colourful tiled rooftop deck with a bar and hot tub to the calming blue and white palette of the rooms, this is a hotel bursting with character. Enjoy everything from the hotel’s Art Deco pieces to the stained glass windows.

And when hunger hits, Terraza K will serve up all the delectable dishes you seek.

Cuarzo Lodge

£

Pichilemu

Cuarzo Lodge

Wondering where to stay in Chile that’s close to the iconic black-sand beaches on Pichilemu? You might as well pack your bags and start heading for Cuarzo Lodge now.

Using nature as its inspiration, this hotel utilises recycled materials wherever possible.

It’s a space where exposed cement, rock, and timber create an organic simplicity. And it still has all the opulent finishings you expect, from a hot tub to the cosy king bed’s satin-like linen.
