The Best Luxury Luggage

Away Carry-On – Overall Best Luxury Luggage

Price Guide: £

Away The Carry On

Let’s talk about the Away Carry-On – it’s my top choice for luxury luggage. The brand is well known for its trendy hard-side suitcases and carry-ons, and there’s a reason for that.

The case is made from a polycarbonate material that is lightweight but durable enough to protect your carry-on from external factors.

In drop tests, these bags have shown no signs of damage or changes in appearance, which is a pretty impressive feat (though, hopefully your luggage isn’t being dropped from terrifying heights).

I have the navy colourway of this case and LOVE it. It fits around 5-7 outfits, so is perfect for weekend breaks or those getaways where you don’t want to be lugging huge cases around.

But the most innovative part about this high-end carry-on luggage is the removable charger. You can use it to charge your phone or other electronics while on the go (just remember to charge it overnight).

The convenience of this carry-on makes it worth the hype. Still not convinced? Read my guide to the Away Carry-On.

Away Carry On  – Pros & Cons

ProsCons
A “lower-priced” option that still feels luxeOption for portable charger (£20 extra)TSA approved locksNot as stylish as some of the other options in this guide (though I love the design)

Bric’s Bellagio 2.0 Spinner Trunk – Best Hardshell Luxury Rolling Luggage

Price Guide: ££

If you’re in the market for a hardshell rolling suitcase that is as stylish as it is functional, then Bric’s Bellagio is the one for you. I love the cream colourway – it’s so chic and really pays a nod to its Italian heritage, as the brand also does with their suitcase names.

But what makes this bag so unique is the vegetable-dyed leather accents which round off its stylish features. These leather corners protect the bag from scratches and dings as well as look ridiculously good.

Despite being, quite frankly, a ginormous case, the 5kg weight means that it doesn’t eat into your clothing allowance too much. Plus, it’s light enough to carry through the airport – and the 360 degree wheels allow you glide across the floor with your swanky case.

The suitcase’s zipper set-up is water-repellent, so if it rains, your clothes will be fine in this bag. And the lock has a 3-digit combination that’s TSA-friendly, and easy to open and close.

Bric’s Bellagio 2.0 Spinner Trunk  – Pros & Cons

ProsCons
Wheels are silent and smoothLeather protects the bag from scratchesThe flaps on the inside are great for organisationThe luggage tag is an odd size (a weird con, I know)

DELSEY Paris Clavel Hard-side Expandable Luggage – Best Water Resistant Premium Travel Luggage

Price Guide: £

I’m a huge fan of Delsey, and this gorgeous expandable luggage is both luxurious and practical, making travelling effortless.

The durable hard-side shell offers extra protection to keep your belongings safe and secure, while the expandable design adds additional packing capacity. Who doesn’t want luggage that can hold some extra things?

The telescoping handle makes lugging this case around no problem, and its polypropylene exterior is scratch resistant.

In terms of style, this suitcase has a rounded shape which is pretty unique – I also love that there are a couple of colour options to choose from (I’ve got my eye on that gorgeous teal).

DELSEY Paris Clavel Hardside Luggage  – Pros & Cons

ProsCons

TUMI 19 Degree International Expandable 4-Wheel Carry-On  – Best Metallic Luxury Suitcase

Price Guide: ££

When it comes to luggage, finding the balance between aesthetic, durability and convenience is not an easy task. That was until TUMI announced their new 19 Degree Aluminum series.

The bag is made from recycled polycarbonate, so the first pro on the list is that it’s eco-friendly. The aluminum shell is incredibly durable and scratch resistant, so that’s another check for durability. It also has a PROTX2 lining that makes it antibacterial and odour resistant.

The recessed dual spinner wheels make it super easy to glide over most surfaces. It even has an integrated TSA lock and a built-in USB port – see why it’s one of the best luxury travel luggage options on the market?

Sterling Pacific Check-In Travel Case – Best Aluminum Premium Luggage

Price Guide: £££

If you’re after what might just be the largest cave I’ve ever seen, this Sterling Pacific bag is top-notch.

The aircraft-grade aluminum material increases the bag’s durability and protects it from bumps, scratches and other external damage that might occur enroute. The corners have also been reinforced for extra protection.

While this suitcase is a monster in size, it’s suprisingly lightweight at just 7kg, which does come in handy at the check-in counter. Lifting it and moving it around is a breeze, no matter what’s inside.

The case has a seal to protect the contents from rain or water. And there are also two TSA-approved combination locks on the bag.

Sterling Pacific Check-In Travel Case  – Pros & Cons

ProsCons

Louis Vuitton Horizon 55 – Best Fashionable High-End Travel Luggage

Price Guide: £££

The king of high-end luggage is, without a doubt, Louis Vuitton. Their rolling luggage bags are well-designed and have that instantly-recognisable LV look to them. The only downside? You will need to drop a hefty sum (£2k +) to get your hands on one.

My favourite? This luxury travel luggage comes in two different materials – canvas and leather. I would opt for the latter. There are also plain colours and monogrammed versions, so the classic LV monogram will cover the whole bag.

The suitcase comes with a sturdy zipper and a TSA-approved combination lock. I love that the sides of the bag have a metal coating to protect it from dings and scratches (though it also looks great).

One thing I do love about this bag, though, is that Louis Vuitton will add your initials to the leather tag-free of charge. You just have to choose the colour. Though, for £2750, I would be a little bit concerned if that wasn’t included.

Louis Vuitton Horizon 55  – Pros & Cons

ProsCons
Classic design Comes with a waterproof protective coverPlenty of compartments to help pack easilyThe leather parts aren’t waterproof and stain easilyBag is heavy

Gucci Savoy Medium Trolley – Best Designer Luggage For Women

Price Guide: £££

If you’re looking for top-tier opulence, look no further than Gucci.

The Gucci Savoy medium trolley bag is both stylish and convenient. The design is the classic GG supreme canvas that you can get in either beige and ebony, or blue and beige (the latter being my favourite).

The bag has a leather trim that protects the corners from scuffing and scratching – a nice touch on a bag that retails for around £3.5k. The antique gold-toned hardware, green and red webbing, and double GG monogram complement the stylish Gucci design.

The telescopic top handle makes it effortless to move around the airport, and the leather cover gives your hands an excellent soft grip. The bag also has a leather side handle, making carrying it super easy.

Best Luxury Luggage Guide – Things to Consider

Don’t just get drawn in by the fancy brands. When deciding on luggage for your travels, these are the things you need to consider.

Durability

The material used to make your bag is one of the most important factors when buying luggage. Check-in bags get tossed around and stacked under other luggage, so they must be strong.

On the other hand, carry-ons need to be lightweight so that you can manoeuvre them easily (and get the most out of your luggage weight).

Space and Size

You need to consider how much space you need for your belongings. There are many bags out there that look small but are incredibly spacious. You don’t want to waste space with a giant bag if you mainly take weekend breaks.

Summary of Best Travel Bags

There are many fantastic luxury travel bag options out there. However, which one is the best?

The Away Carry-On is the best option if you’re looking for convenience and don’t want to spend too much. For durability, the Sterling Pacific Check-In Case is the best option. It’s strong and won’t get easily damaged when stuffed between millions of other bags.
